Seminars

I found quite interesting that at the university there are seminars quite often of different topics and they are interactive and interesting. Also, if you go to two or them and write a report you can use it for some course. This morning I went to one of the seminars, it was very interesting to me because it was about how people react psychologically after a terrorist attack. I was thinking about being a specialist in this kind of situations, like catastrophes in general, so I wanted to go today. I think it was very interesting and it wasn´t boring at all.
I believe that this kind of activities are really useful when you are studying something you like because the seminars are usually about some topics related with the career but which you don´t study at class, so it´s like an "extra" for the students. Today at the university there were a lot of them at different times and about different topics.
At my home university, we have seminars about interesting topics also, but we can have class at the same time so we have to organize some times if we want to go; although they don´t plan a whole morning with different seminars as here today.

Alcohol

I have to dedicate one post to the alcohol because it´s really expensive here! First of all, you can´t buy "hard" alcohol at the supermarket, as you can in Spain. Here, at the supermarket, you only can buy some beers or cider (maximum 5% of alcohol) but nothing else. So, if you want to buy wine, vodka, gin, or beers with more % of alcohol you have to go to a specific shop, called Alko, they are near supermarkets normally, and for example, in Turku city centre there are two. But, remember this: if you want to buy alcohol you have to show your ID card, but also the people who go with you have to show it (one time I went with a friend but it was me the one who was buying and I couldn´t because she didn´t have it). They say that they do it to have control of the alcohol, but they don´t count the consuming of each person or something, it´s just a different shop because it´s from the Government so it earns money with that. Furthermore, they have another restriction, if you are 18...

The end of the Erasmus

I have more days here in Turku, but a lot of people started leaving and it´s sad because you realize that the end is coming, and we have to don´t waste our last month (less than one month..) here, I have a lot of things that I want to do before leaving so I´m doing a list with one friend to don´t miss anything. In one hand I want to go home because I miss my family, friends, the good weather (the sun mostly), and the food of course, also the lifestyle, but...on the other hand I don´t want to leave at all!! Here I can live my life, I met new people, I´ve learnt about other cultures, other meals, other customs, and I am happy here, I know I will miss a lot of things when I go home. I will miss the friends I made here, of course, I will miss Unica restaurants (at home I have to cook every day), I will miss the landscapes and the peace you can feel here, I will miss the safety, I will miss my room and the city, and being discovering and travelling.. I have one more trip before leaving, I´m...

Finnish prom

I had one course that is called Get Finternational, the point of that course is that we have to make different events related to Finnish culture, so it´s quite interesting. One of the events that I chose was to go a prom. We went to Naantali to see a Finnish prom and that was really funny. First of all, we got to Naantali and some students from the school were waiting for us to show us the school and the small city. The school was amazing, there was a TV in the hall and a pair of billiards to play, I was impressed with that, it´s really different in my country. Then, we went to the lake, obviously, it was frozen and we also saw the Moomin world, but it was closed. In the lake they were making a fire to cook some sausages and marshmallow, they were so good. After eating the sausages and enjoy the nature we went to see quickly the centre of the city and came back to school. At the school, the other two students explain to us how the education works here, in Finland and a bit about th...
