Shoe tree

This post is maybe not that interesting but for me was something which surprised me. I don´t remember if I said it before but here I live in Student Village west, is a residential place for students, there are different buildings with letters and numbers and three floors in each building (at least in the zone where I live); so there are 12 rooms per floor and one common kitchen for them. We have our private room with a private bathroom, so it´s really good that point. I live in one of the buildings of the "exchange students buildings" so most of the things happen here, like the parties. In the middle of the four 3 buildings (3A, 3B, 3C and 3D) there is one big tree, in that tree, there are a lot of boots, shoes, trainers from the exchange students who were living here. I don´t know how it started but it´s like leave something from yourself "forever" here. In winter those shoes are covered by snow and now they are in the sun, I don´t know, for me, it´s a fun fact. Sometimes I meet my friends in the shoe tree!
At the beginning I said that I´m not going to leave my shoes because I really like them but now, one of my boots are pretty destroyed because of the rocks of the city (for the snow) so I think I will leave them and a part of me will be in Turku, at least, for a while.

Vappu

Vappu is the most important student party in Turku (and in Finland, I think), the main day is the first of May, but this week there were a lot of events going on. And the best part is the weather because there was incredible weather, so everything was better. Also, I was sad because at least two events were cancelled, and one of them was really interesting for me, even my tutor had suggested it :( So, this week I have Lost in Turku (last post), then this event which was cancelled, but I cooked tortilla with some friends and then we went to play pool, another day we went to the river just to drink and chill and it was really nice, there was an attraction park also (I didn´t have entrance) but we went to see how it was and it was very crowded and after that I went to a concert of Finnish bands and then I went out. There is also an event today and then next week is coming with a lot of parties and the Vappu day! Finally people are in the streets!!

Food again

The last post I was talking about pastries but now I´m going to talk about all the things I ate these days with my parents. the first day it was very late so we went to one place really near to the apartment, and I really liked it, it was a place of pizzas but they have Finnish products, we ordered one with reindeer and one with salmon and they were very good! My parents really like salmon so we ate more times, we tried the famous salmon soup in Helsinki and I have to say that I was surprised with the flavour, it was good; we ate salmon also with the black bread from here in a kind of toast, and also another toast with shrimps. My parents don´t like so much fast food places but because of the expensive restaurants here on weekends and the timetables for having lunch we ate in two fast food places, of course, one was Hesburguer, the most famous in Finland, it´s everywhere! And the other one was a street stall called Grilli, in Turku, and I also have seen at least three Grilli stalls; an...

Tallinn

I want to talk about one of the trips I made here, is not Finland, but it was during my Erasmus so I think it´s interesting to share the experience. I spent more or less three days in Tallinn with some friends in a hostel, and it was really good and funny! We went to Helsinki to take a ferry to Tallinn (that was the worst part because we had to wake up around 4 a.m) and we went one day to Riga (I will make another post for it). My trip didn´t start the best way, because when we arrived at the ferry I realized that I had lost one of the wheels of my luggage, so you can imagine!! Also, the hostel was a bit weird at some points but it was very cheap and the room for the 8 of us was really big. We went around the city and I have to say that it´s very beautiful! (and also very cold, although it was sunny so I was really happy to see the sun shining again). We ate in a pancake place a pancake (of course) which was delicious, but our gastronomy wasn´t really variety, cause we ate in an It...
