Tampere

Last Saturday I went to Tampere with ESN, the trip was visiting the Moomin museum in the morning and then free time to see Tampere and we came back Turku at night. The day wasn´t the better because it was snowing very hard, but around p.m it stopped and we could enjoy more the visit. I have to say that I don´t like the museum, it was a bit boring and quite small, but there was an activity really cool to do there, we made our drawing of Moomin (or whatever we want to draw), we paint the sheet with blue or black paint and then we draw over it with a pencil, toothpick, cotton swab, etc.. After that we had to wait while it dries, and we had to dry another special sheet to print on it. The last step was to print it in a machine and we had our drawings! I think it´s a nice memory.
Then, we went to a student canteen (because it´s just 2.6 €) and we started walking around the city. It´s not a really beautiful city but it´s okay to visit. The point I don´t like about it is that it´s an industrial city with factories and that is not beautiful. We also went to a Pyynikki, and I recommend going there because it´s in the middle of the forest and you can enjoy the views, and also with good weather it has to be so nice to take a drink with friends there. And if you go there you have to try the Munkki, it´s like a doughnut with a lot of glass and something black inside, but it´s delicious!
Furthermore, you have to go to Torni hotel, because it´s really high and you can go free and see all the city, there´s also a bar in the top floor, but it´s expensive for me!

Alcohol

I have to dedicate one post to the alcohol because it´s really expensive here! First of all, you can´t buy "hard" alcohol at the supermarket, as you can in Spain. Here, at the supermarket, you only can buy some beers or cider (maximum 5% of alcohol) but nothing else. So, if you want to buy wine, vodka, gin, or beers with more % of alcohol you have to go to a specific shop, called Alko, they are near supermarkets normally, and for example, in Turku city centre there are two. But, remember this: if you want to buy alcohol you have to show your ID card, but also the people who go with you have to show it (one time I went with a friend but it was me the one who was buying and I couldn´t because she didn´t have it). They say that they do it to have control of the alcohol, but they don´t count the consuming of each person or something, it´s just a different shop because it´s from the Government so it earns money with that. Furthermore, they have another restriction, if you are 18...

The end of the Erasmus

I have more days here in Turku, but a lot of people started leaving and it´s sad because you realize that the end is coming, and we have to don´t waste our last month (less than one month..) here, I have a lot of things that I want to do before leaving so I´m doing a list with one friend to don´t miss anything. In one hand I want to go home because I miss my family, friends, the good weather (the sun mostly), and the food of course, also the lifestyle, but...on the other hand I don´t want to leave at all!! Here I can live my life, I met new people, I´ve learnt about other cultures, other meals, other customs, and I am happy here, I know I will miss a lot of things when I go home. I will miss the friends I made here, of course, I will miss Unica restaurants (at home I have to cook every day), I will miss the landscapes and the peace you can feel here, I will miss the safety, I will miss my room and the city, and being discovering and travelling.. I have one more trip before leaving, I´m...

Finnish prom

I had one course that is called Get Finternational, the point of that course is that we have to make different events related to Finnish culture, so it´s quite interesting. One of the events that I chose was to go a prom. We went to Naantali to see a Finnish prom and that was really funny. First of all, we got to Naantali and some students from the school were waiting for us to show us the school and the small city. The school was amazing, there was a TV in the hall and a pair of billiards to play, I was impressed with that, it´s really different in my country. Then, we went to the lake, obviously, it was frozen and we also saw the Moomin world, but it was closed. In the lake they were making a fire to cook some sausages and marshmallow, they were so good. After eating the sausages and enjoy the nature we went to see quickly the centre of the city and came back to school. At the school, the other two students explain to us how the education works here, in Finland and a bit about th...
